We recognise that any meaningful activity is fundamental to the health and well-being of our residents. Activities help give structure to the day, a sense of purpose, improve physical fitness and combat depression, anxiety or loneliness.
Therefore, it is really important to us that we give our residents opportunities for entertainment and fun activities. Feedback from our residents about their personal interests help our activities team develop a varied activity programme that has something for everyone.
Our activities can be delivered in a group format or on a one-to-one basis for residents with extra social interaction and/or stimulation needs. Some of our group activities that are popular at the Priory include bingo, arts and crafts, gardening, and quizzes, organised and hosted by our resident activity co-ordinators. Our one-to-one activities include, colouring, reminiscing, reading, hand massages or going for walks.
We enjoy hosting regular events and celebrate special days and invite local entertainers and volunteers to visit, we encourage all families and friends to join in the fun. Our Summer BBQs in particular are a huge success!
We make good use of the surrounding town of Wellington with trips to the local Café, Pub and Parks. Including trips to enjoy the spectacular views at the Wrekin and Ercall.
We have lots of great things going on here at The Priory, planned by our amazing Activities’ Co-Ordinator’s.
Pet Therapy is a great success here at The Priory! We have weekly visits from Rosie the Cockapoo and her owner Neil, visits from the cheeky Alpacas, visits from Sunshine the pony and visits from the animal man with all his creepy Crawley’s!
We also have regular performances from some great performers! Jack Dent has been entertaining us weekly with his great singing and marvelous magic over the summer period. We love Kerry’s Nostalgic Music performances, and she now presents Dementia friendly quizzes!
We have lots of different singers entertaining us too! Keep an eye out for dates and pop down to The Priory to enjoy the fun with our residents.
